Ibn Tulun Mosque is the oldest mosque in Cairo: completed in 879AD. The Gayer Anderson museum is attached to it. General Gayer Anderson was a British Officer who lived there until 1942. Some of the James Bond movie "The Spy Who Loved Me" were filmed inside the Gayer-Anderson Museum. I believed General Anderson donated all of his extensive collection of scupture, art, oriental rugs, and tapestries to Cairo which can be seen at the museum. One can imagine him there with his beautiful wife overlooking Cairo thru their trellaced terrace.
