Russia is sending troops to Kazakhstan to support the government, which has been facing days of angry protests. For Moscow, there is more at stake
than cementing its influence in a neighboring country shaken by unrest.
After days of violent protests, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has vowed to destroy "armed bandits." He gave "special thanks" to Russian President Vladimir Putin for sending troops to quell the unrest.
