Sanjay Murthy, a 1989 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, was sworn in as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India. He took the oath of office at a simple function at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
Presently Secretary, Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, Sanjay Murthy succeeds Girish Chandra Murmu in the coveted post.
Comptroller and Auditor General of India takes upon the responsibility of auditing public expenditure and imposing discipline among various departments and institutions.
Sanjay Murthy previously handled key responsibilities in several departments including those related to Audit and Accounts Service.
