At the U.N. last week, Chinese President Xi Jinping said the world’s smallest countries should have more influence over world affairs. By population, the five smallest U.N. countries are the Pacific island nations of Naura, Tuvalu and Palau plus San Marino and Monaco in Europe. Combined these countries have a population of about 112 thousand people. And China hopes to help those poor African countries rise out of poverty with new commitments at the UN and through massive investment on the African continent.CCTV’s Jim Spellman filed this report from Washington.
