Kyle Pope, editor-in-chief and publisher of Columbia Journalism Review, stresses the value of an editor who gives you their time. Editors are doing so much more than we realize. They work on so many stories and have such little time, so if you have somebody who will actually give you time and work with you on a piece, stick with them. “It may not be the ideal outlet or the ideal beat, but you can learn so much from that person” adds Pope.
