Professor Welsch concludes the Symposium on "Quantum Leap towards the Next Generation of Particle Accelerators" with a talk on a vision for the future of particle accelerators.
He goes back to the pioneering days of accelerators science when Ernest Rutherford proposed the world's first accelerator for science to be designed and built in the North-West of England and then sketches the key parameters a laser-based plasma accelerator would need to feature.
