On September 5, 2024 at 1:50 AM UTC the final Arianespace Vega rocket lifted off from ELV at the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana, France carrying the Sentinel-2C payload to Sun Synchronous Orbit. Sentinel-2C is an Earth observation satellite developed by the European Space Agency for the Copernicus Program. It will be used for forest monitoring, land cover change detection, and natural disaster management. This launch was the 22nd and final flight of the original Vega rocket, which will be replaced by Vega C, which has an upgraded design and higher payload to orbit.
