Episode: Liberia 🇱🇷
Yo yo yo what's up guys ? Welcome to Liberia, a country founded by enslaved people from the United States of America.
I arrived here a week ago from Sierra Leone. Although these countries are neighbors, they are still very different from each other.
On my first day in the country, I met Patrick, a local who was friendly and invited me to stay over at his place. We became good friends and spent a lot of quality time together.
Liberia and Sierra Leone were both hit by the Ebola epidemic back in 2013. While I was attempting to cross the border, I encountered someone who survived the epidemic, but unfortunately, he lost all of his family.
Liberia was not my favorite country, but I'm grateful for the people I've met along the way.
I was quite surprised to see the huge influence of the US in this western African country. They are even using dollars for their local currency.
Between 1989 and 2003, approximately 250,000 people lost their lives due to the two civil wars in Liberia.
I am currently working on my Liberian videos for my YouTube channel. Make sure you don't miss them!
