Hudson Institute senior fellow Michael Doran says a wider regional war from the Israeli conflict with Hamas would be a disaster for the United States.
Mr Doran said Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Israel to provide significant support to the country in order to “deter Hezbollah” from attacking from the North.
“He’s there to express support for Israel and to, I think, help Israel prevent Hezbollah from opening the second front in the North,” Mr Doran told Sky News host James Morrow.
“The nightmare scenario for the Israelis was a kind of one-two punch where Hamas would hit them in the South and then you’d get an uppercut from Hezbollah in the North.
“Blinken is there to monitor the situation, show support and make sure that we don’t have a wider regional war which would be a disaster for the United States.”
