Who owns Masjid Al Aqsa on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Israel?
In this short video, we delve into the historical transformation of Masjid Al Aqsa during the early Islamic period. During the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (sawa), these two structures did not exist, and it was not the Prophet who built them. Various narrations and historical traditions suggest that it was either Umar ibn Al-Khattab, who led his armies to establish and command the construction, or a later caliph from the Umayyad Empire. Upon arrival, Muslims discovered that Christians had already taken control of the site and established a church. The Muslims then converted this church into a masjid, building on top of the existing structure.
