The Polish Embassy in London held a joint celebration of the 3 May Constitution Day and the 20th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union.
Ambassador Piotr Wilczek spoke of the significance of the Polish constitution, which was the first of its kind in Europe and the 2nd in the world. "It was a document embodying ideals of civil liberty, political equality, and national revival. Its influence extended beyond our borders and inspired other movements seeking national reforms," said Ambassador Piotr Wilczek.
EU Ambassador to the UK Pedro Serrano also highlighted the transformative impact of EU membership on Poland's development. The rapid economic growth, the unwavering dedication to collective security both within our region and NATO, and the growing global significance of Polish culture are just a few of the milestones that exemplify Poland's successful journey within the EU. These achievements still inspire confidence and optimism in the other member states about Poland's future in the EU.
The Polish journey of progress and resilience owes particularly much to strong alliances, including the longstanding relationship with the United Kingdom. The presence of Nusrat Ghani, UK Minister for Europe, reinforced the deep-rooted ties and shared commitments that bridge our lands and people. "Together, Britain and Poland will stand (...) as a shining example of European solidarity," she said. Recently, Poland and the UK have been experiencing rapid intensification of our already strong partnership. Our ties have strengthened from defence to education and scientific collaboration throughout the years.
Among other guests were Ambassadors and High Commissioners, members of diplomatic protocol, high-profile members of the Polish diaspora as well as close friends and key partners of the Embassy.
