(14 Jun 2018) Muslims across Pakistan have been preparing for the annual religious festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated at the end of the Ramadan, the month of fasting.
Large numbers of women were shopping and visiting beauticians in Pakistan's biggest city of Karachi, where make-shift markets were also set up to cater to the high demand.
At Meena Bazaar, a mall exclusively for females, young and old were busy getting mehndi (henna) applied on their hands, feet and forearms.
Mehndi is a traditional form of body art that includes intricate patterns and motifs.
Salons and parlours also see an increase in footfall before Eid as many marriages are decided and matches made on Eid day, and there is a great demand for bangles and jewellery.
Eid is expected to be celebrated on Friday or Saturday, depending upon the sighting of the moon.
