The Battle of Wizna has been called the "Polish Thermopylae" because, like the men who fought under King Leonidas, the Polish soldiers held their own for three days against an army that outnumbered them by more than 40-to-1. Despite their valiant struggle, the survivors eventually surrendered and it was not long after that Germany occupied all of Poland. But the men who fought at Wizna are still remembered to this day. #shorts
