STORYLINE:
Interim Afghan President, Hamid Karzai left Kabul for Islamabad, on Friday, where he will meet his Pakistani counterpart, General Pervez Musharraff.
Karzai told reporters at the airport that he was on a good-will trip, before boarding the national airline's only airplane in service.
The interim president's trip was delayed by bad weather, across the country, until just after midday.
One of the top issues of the visit is expected to be the status of Pakistanis imprisoned in Afghanistan, according to Pakistani newspapers.
Pakistan was one of only three countries to give diplomatic recognition to the Taliban during the years it ruled most of Afghanistan.
But Musharraff's support for the US airstrikes on Afghanistan was a vital component in the fall of the Taliban and, consequently, the creation of Karzai's interim government.
Hamid Karzai is expected to return to Kabul on Saturday, according to the Pakistan foreign ministry.
