This full-size 1917 World War One aircraft was scratch built from the original design drawings over a period of 24 years by the members of the Aviation Preservation Society of Scotland. (APSS) [ Ссылка ]
The maiden flight was near Edinburgh, Scotland at 2pm on 17Sept2024 in excellent test-flight weather conditions with light and minimal cross-winds down the runway, strong sun-light, clear skies and warm weather. Note the ground shadows through-out the flight. This test flight was successful, and identified a number of minor issues now being evaluated. The aircraft is based near Edinburgh currently while the flight trials progress. The aircraft is at Nov2024 starting the final stages of CAA flight duration sign-offs. The APSS have also started building a Sopwith Pup and have recently completed a 100% accurate and operative Spitfire Mark 9 full-size cockpit flight simulator.
