Asmara 17 May 2014- Cultural performances were staged yesterday at Bahti-Meskerem square in connection with the 23rd Independence Day anniversary witnessing participation of foreigner artists.
The performance which was broadcast live through Eri-TV involved 12 songs and musical dramas in Tigre, Tigrinya and Hidareb languages, in addition to shows by a South African cultural troupe and an Eritrean national who resides in Canada.
Among the participants, Ms. Sofia Haj Zeinu, Ms. Gebriela Gebretinsae, Mr. Negasi Wolderufael and Mr. Asmerom Ogbai pointed out that the manner through which nationals celebrate the momentous Day attests to the way they cherish national independence and the heavy price they paid for it. They further expressed conviction that the spirit of the celebration urges further commitment in the nation-building process, and said that higher enthusiasm is being demonstrated on the part of nationals in the process.
The cultural performances would continue until tonight.
