The Aizhaipo section of the Xiangchuan Highway, commonly known as the Jishou Aizhai Panshan Highway, is located on National Highway 209 northwest of the Aizhai Community, Aizhai Town, Jishou City , Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hunan Province. It was built in the early 24th year of the Republic of China (1935).
The Aizhai slope section of the Hunan-Sichuan Highway goes through 13 bends from the bottom to the top of the slope. There is a highway overpass near the top of the slope. On the top of the mountain, there is a "Monument to the Employees Who Died on the Hunan-Sichuan Highway" and a bronze statue of the "Pioneer". The Aizhai slope section of the Hunan -Sichuan Highway is a section of the Hunan-Sichuan Highway. In September 1936, the Aizhai slope section of the Hunan-Sichuan Highway was completed and opened to traffic. The widest part of the Aizhai slope section of the Hunan-Sichuan Highway is only 7 meters, and the narrowest part is less than 4 meters. It is also the composite line section of National Highway 209 and National Highway 319 passing through Aizhai. [10] During the Anti-Japanese War, the Aizhai slope section of the Hunan-Sichuan Highway was the only passage connecting the front line and the southwest rear area. Later, it was the overlapping section of National Highways 319 and 209, and it was also the throat of the southwest connecting the Yuehan and Hunan-Guangxi-Qianhe Roads.
湘川公路矮寨坡段，习称吉首市矮寨盘山公路，位于湖南省湘西土家族苗族自治州吉首市矮寨镇矮寨社区西北方209国道，始建于民国二十四年（1935年）初。
湘川公路矮寨坡段自下而上经13处弯道始达坡顶，近坡顶处有一公路天桥。山顶建有“湘川公路死事员工纪念碑”及“开路先锋”铜像。湘川公路矮寨坡段属湘川公路其中的一段，民国二十五年（1936年）9月，湘川公路矮寨坡段全线竣工通车，湘川公路矮寨坡段最宽处不过7米，最窄的地段不足4米，也是209国道、319国道途经矮寨的复合线段。[10]抗战时期，湘川公路矮寨坡是连接前线和西南大后方的唯一通道，后来它是319和209两条国道的重合路段，也是衔接粤汉、湘桂黔路通向西南的咽喉要道。
