Diffusion is a process that describes the movement of particles (such as molecules, atoms or ions) from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. This phenomenon is important in many natural and engineering systems and plays a key role in physics, chemistry, biology and other sciences.
Diffusion is a random process that leads to the equilibration of concentration differences between two regions. The particles move randomly and in this way gradually diffuse from the region of greater concentration to the region of lesser concentration until they balance the difference.
