Children born by IVF look as normal as children born by natural conception. When we look at those children we cannot say whether they are born by IVF or by natural conception. There is no difference, in IVF we are bypassing the method. Here the egg and sperm are retrieved and they are fertilised outside in the lab and they are grown for 3 to 5 days and then they are frozen. These embryos which are frozen are again transferred to the uterus when the environment is favourable for them to attach and grow further whereas in natural conception the fertilisation of the sperm with the egg occurs after the natural intercourse in the fallopian tubes which then travels into the uterus and then gets attached to the endometrial lining. The rest of the course is same whether the pregnancy is by IVF or by natural conception. Coming to the management of pregnancy it is the same in both the cases, they undergo through the regular screening, blood tests. Anomaly scan and others, therefore the children who are born by IVF look as normal as the others born by natural conception.
