To avoid paying excess #TDS submit tax saving investment proof to your employer on time. Investment proof submission last date is in jan every year. The taxes deducted at source (TDS) are covered under Section 192 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 making it the obligation of the employer to withhold taxes at the time of payment of salaries.
The employer needs investment proof submission before the benefit of such investments may be given to the employee. Similarly, the income tax department could require proofs, although, one is not mandated to send them such proofs. "It is important to note, that although the investment proofs are not to be submitted with the income tax authorities it is recommended to keep them safely for a period of at least six years.
