Prior to the UK Reintroduction Project male Great Bustards have not performed their displays on Salisbury Plain for nearly 200 years. Now it is possible to visit the project and see these birds displaying for yourself. March and April is a great time to visit as males and females return to the Release Site for the breeding season.
Last year saw the first Great Bustard chicks hatch and fledge in the UK for 177 years when two females successfully reared chicks on Salisbury Plain. This year we are hoping to repeat this monumental event and even surpass it with more females nesting successfully. Afterall, there are already four females at the Release Site just waiting for the males to start impressing them!
