Las Vegas (2024) is without doubt a unique city in the world. It was founded and developed in 1905 in the middle of the desert close to Death Valley and next to Red Rock Canyon in Nevada, United States of America (USA). In 1905 110 acres (45 ha) of land were auctioned adjacent to the Union Pacific Railroad in what would become the downtown area. In 1931 Nevada legalized casino gambling. The new legalization and the influx of laborers and workers helped Las Vegas grow into a big city. The major income source of Las Vegas is tourism with many casinos and hotels. Nowaydays Las Vegas has 650,000 permanent citizens it is the most populous city of the state of Nevada.
