(28 Aug 2020) Demonstrators gathered in Washington DC on Thursday evening as US President Donald Trump accepted his party's renomination at the White House.
The protesters marched along the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Plaza toward Lafayette Park carrying anti-Trump and BLM banners and signs.
They blared music and fog horns and banged tambourines while the president gave his speech on the South Lawn a few blocks away.
Trump was breaking with tradition by using the executive mansion as a political backdrop and defying pandemic guidelines to address a tightly packed, largely maskless crowd.
