▶️The Grey Water Management system at @Shangilia Children home in Loresho - Nairobi, is managing 7m3 of #wastewater that would have otherwise been disposed in the sewer line, but it's now used for growing food for the institution.

The waste water comes from the institutions;
➡️Kitchen
➡️Shower water
➡️Laundry water
.
▶️The water is treated using Effective Micro-organisms (EM) to break down solids, soaps, destroy any undesirable bacteria & pathogens, prevent / remove any foul odours, and enhance the quality of the water which will then be used for #irrigation.

▶️It's then passed through a 25m3 × 5 stage biodigester.
.
▶️Then it's solar pumped to an overhead tank and gravity fed to the irrigation system for growing food.
