Today we go on a cool adventure.
We begin our journey on the island of Bastimentos in the province of Bocas del Toro which is on the Caribbean side of Panama. Specifically, we begin in a town called Old Bank. We trek barefoot through the hills and jungle to a secluded beach called Wizard Beach (also known as First Beach). At the west end of First Beach we found a trail (there are no official signs or paths) and we continue the journey by hiking along the beach and through the jungle to eventually arrive at Red Frog Beach.
We grabbed some lunch and cocktails at Nachyo Mommas Taco Bar. I recommend the chicken tenders, patacones and V loved the strawberry daiquiris.
Instead of hiking back we took the easy option and walked from the Red Frog Resort to the end of the boardwalk where you'll find water taxis. These only run for a certain time during the day, so make sure you find out what time the last taxi is in advance so you're not left stranded. We shared the boat trip with another couple and it took about 10 minutes to get back to Old Bank and cost $6 per person. Apparently you can get a water taxi for $4 per person, so it really just depends on the driver.
If you want to do the hike roundtrip then give yourself a full day and leave early, make sure you check the tides, and give yourself plenty of time to get back before dark. If you're hiking there and taking a water taxi back then you should give yourself a 1/2 day to enjoy and relax.
I'm pretty sure the hike only took us between 1 - 2 hours. Sorry guys, we forgot to check the time when we arrived to Red Frog, but it's a beautiful, easy jungle hike.
Today was a cool adventure. We hope you liked coming along for the ride with us.
Thank you for watching!
