There are numerous Icelandic dirt tracks (not even F-roads) around Langisjór, Sveinstindur and the "proper" F-road F235. All of these roads are amazing tracks leading through beautiful surroundings of Icelandic southern highlands.
What are Icelandic dirt tracks? [ Ссылка ]
We firstly drove a stunning Skaelingar track leading via Blautulón lake here [ Ссылка ] and the we arrived at the junction with F235 and continued towards Langisjór lake.
It’s very important to drive the proper car (ideally a big 4x4 or a super jeep) to pass Skaelingar track safely: [ Ссылка ]
There are only small to medium river crossings on an entire F235 road to Langisjór, so it's suitable in good conditions also for smaller 4x4 vehicles. That can't be said about dirt tracks, though. These are always harder than F-roads. Dirt tracks in this video, around Langisjór and Sveinstindur do not contain river crossings. There are some steep parts though, and parts with deep sand.
Please always check carefully, whether your rental car is allowed to drive on dirt tracks. Most of them ARE NOT, even if they are allowed to be driven on F-roads!. Dirt tracks are harder than F-roads! If you want to be sure, better rent a super jeep: [ Ссылка ]
Your typical car rental insurance also usually doesn’t work on dirt tracks. If you want an insurance which applies also on dirt tracks and you want to understand how Icelandic insurance works, we wrote an article about that:
