Earlier this year, construction began on a new biosolids dryer facility at our wastewater treatment plant. Historically, the City's solid waste has been hauled daily by trucks to Ellsworth for treatment. This new building will allow the City to dry the product on site -- improving cost efficiency and eliminating carbon emissions from the semis while also producing an all-natural fertilizer.
Watch as Utility Director Kevin Westhuis explains more about the dryer building and the process of how wastewater goes from your home to the treatment plant and into the Kinnikinnic River.
