The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M is the natural rival to the Rolex Sea Dweller. But the 42mm titanium Omega Planet Ocean offers a convenient size and featherweight construction that even Rolex’s flagship dive watch cannot match.
42mm is the perfect case size for a sports watch. It’s large enough to see clearly, small enough to fit a broad range of wrists, and sized ideally for high style when not being used in action. The Omega Planet Ocean 42mm in grade five titanium is the best balance of utility, ergonomics, and couture. This dive watch includes a robust three-link bracelet with a single-fold deployant clasp. The clasp includes a fold out dive extension for use over a wet suit or dry diving suit.
This era of Planet Ocean diving watch includes a lustrous blue lacquered dial with applied indices, hands, and Omega logo. The unidirectional diving bezel rotates with “120-click” action for precise timing of dives. Omega includes “hacking” seconds and an hour-jumping hours hand for precise setting and travel, respectively. Super LumiNova has been applied for seamless legibility in the dark. A helium escape valve is provided for saturation divers, and the Seamaster Planet Ocean is rated to a maximum water resistance depth of 600 meters.
This titanium Planet Ocean 600m is powered by Omega’s exclusive automatic caliber 8500. With twin mainspring barrels, this COSC chronometer certified movement provides 60 hours of power reserve. A silicon hairspring ensures robust resistance to magnetic fields. The George Daniels-designed co-axial escapement remains a marvel of watchmaking and engineering; in the 8500 family of movements, the co-axial escapement was designed to be native to these calibers. Unlike previous ETA-based co-axials, which were converted from movements designed for Swiss levers, the 8500 series was designed for co-axial regulators from the beginning.
