Samajwadi Party leader and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav was detained by Uttar Pradesh police after he sat on a dharna outside his residence. Akhilesh Yadav started the sit-in protest after police reportedly stopped him from visiting to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the victims of the violence that erupted on Sunday. A vehicle outside the residence Akhilesh Yadav was also set on fire.
The farmers were protesting against Deputy CM of UP Keshav Prasad Maurya's visit to a village in Lakhimpur Kheri. The violence left 8 dead including 4 farmers.
