James Paxton throws sixth no-hitter in Mariners history in a 5-0 victory over the Blue Jays.
Mariners left-hander James Paxton joined an exclusive club as he pitched a no-hitter in Toronto on Tuesday night in his team's 5-0 victory over the Blue Jays. Obviously, the game without hits marks the best start of Paxton's career, but never before had he gone to a complete game. Therefore, at the 82nd start of Paxton's career, he scored his first complete game.
Normally, a guy with lots of punches Paxton entered the game leading the majors with 14 K / 9 Paxton really threw more to contact on Tuesday. He only struck out seven hitters on the way to making history. He walked three, preventing him from joining the even more exclusive group to launch a perfect game. Still, a no-hitter is a great achievement. Paxton was efficient and excellent in this case. He only needed 99 pitches and still threw 100 miles per hour in the ninth inning. He was only locked and unpleasant at all times.
