Hi there! In this video I'll show you how to create a front panel. Front panels are frequently used for electronic and mechanical systems.
First we'll draw the overall panel. Click the Rectangle button and draw a rectangle. Let’s set the vertical dimension to 2 inches and the horizontal dimension to 6 inches. Click the Zoom-To-Fit button to view the full design. Next we'll make four mounting holes, first setting the Nudge value to 0.1 inches. Click the Circle button and draw a small circle. We’ll set the diameter to 0.15 inches. Set the Z value to Air Inside to make a hole. Click the Repeat button. And Nudge to make three more copies of the circle. Drag a circle to the corner of the rectangle. And nudge into position. Do the same for each of the other three circles.
Next we’ll add holes and cutouts for mounting panel devices.
Let’s add a cutout for a one-inch square power switch. Click the Rectangle button and draw a rectangle. Set the vertical and horizontal dimensions to 1.01 inches. Set the Z value to Air Inside. Snap the rectangle to the upper left corner of the panel. Nudge the rectangle into position. Finally we'll add holes for three indicator lights. Click the Circle button and draw a circle. Set the diameter to .25 inches. Set the Z value to Air Inside. Drag the circle to a snap point. Nudge the circle into position. Click the Repeat button. Nudge right twice. Turn the Repeat button off. Nudge the circles into position. And finally click the Pyramid button to check the 3D view.
