Steve Paulsen is a Freshwater Ecologist in EPA’s Office of Research and Development, Research Laboratory, Corvallis, Oregon. Steve is an integral part of EPA’s environmental monitoring and assessment work, and a key contributor to EPA’s National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) designed to assess the quality of the nation's coastal waters, lakes and reservoirs, rivers and streams, and wetlands. Steve talks about the factors that influenced his choice to pursue his passion in environmental protection, the importance of clean and abundant water, how water resources contribute to our health and economy, and what we can do to protect our vital water resources.
