Utah is suing the federal government for control of “unappropriated” public lands with elected officials wanting the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on whether the government can hold claim to those lands indefinitely. Gov. Spencer Cox, Attorney General Sean Reyes and other state officials announced the lawsuit during a press conference Tuesday morning in Salt Lake City that was accompanied by a news release to the media.
