Nick Nurse is firmly in the hot seat as Toronto Raptors head coach and this recent press conference are not going to make it any better.

Before yesterday's 117-110 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Raptors coach gave a cryptic message about his future in Toronto saying he needs to take some time to reflect when they get to the offseason. Nurse has earned his critics this season after the Raptors with high expectations for this season sit at 38-39 with 5 games to go. The team and its management were hoping to build on the 48 wins that Nurse led them to last season but that has absolutely not been the case.

The criticism for Nick Nurse comes from the lack of offensive schemes, lineup concerns and also for much of the season there were defensive concerns despite Nurse having previously laid down the foundation for Toronto being a defense the first time. With one year left on his contract speculation is ongoing about if Nurse will remain with the team and though we thought it would have to have been Masai Ujiri’s decision to fire him, it could also just be Nurse himself deciding to move on.

Fueling these reports is also a recent story suggesting the Raptors could have an interest in bringing in disgraced former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka who was suspended by his former team in the 2022 offseason and has since been replaced by Joe Mazzulla. Is this the answer for the Raptors and should they really fire the coach that brought the team their first and only NBA championship in 2019?
