Don Lemon uses the phrase “illegal immigrant” to refer to the parents who would have been protected by DAPA, part of President Obama’s executive actions which where effectively overturned by the Supreme Court in a 4-4 split decision. Furthermore, Lemon and his CNN producers display a lack of understanding of DAPA, as it is not ‘the parents of so-called “DREAMers”' who would primarily be affected by DAPA. “DREAMers,” by definition, are not citizens or legal residents, while DAPA (Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents) exclusively protects parents of citizens or permanent residents.
