(6 May 2017) The United Nation's Security Council visited a demobilisation camp on Friday where former members of Colombia's largest rebel group are in the process of turning in their weapons.
The council is tasked with overseeing the peace as authorities continue to investigate the kidnapping of a UN anti-narcotics officer.
Colombia's government claims the officer was taken captive late on Wednesday by dissidents of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
The rebels are expected to have turned in all their arms by June.
In January 2016, Colombia's government and FARC rebels asked the United Nations to monitor any cease-fire and disarmament process.
