Join Boat Trader and boat reviewer Marilyn DeMartini at Nautical Ventures in Fort Lauderdale Florida for a full walkthrough and brief sea trial of Ocean Craft Marine's newest amphibious vessel. Looking for a center console boat that can take you from your beach house to the horizon and back again without a trailer? You just found it! On land, this RIB boat is powered by OCM's advanced BAS-80-4 Amphibious system that is comprised of a Briggs And Stratton drive with 4 independently motorized, steerable wheels. Once in the water the wheels retract completely and the vessel switches to the outboard propulsion system at the flip of a switch. The 33-foot model we were aboard was equipped with twin 300 HP Mercury outboards that gave the amphibious vessel a top speed of 50 MPH. The boat can handle a maximum of 800 HP on her transom, with 400-HP being the recommended minimum. Military-grade helm controls with rugged shock-mitigating saddle-style seats sit under the heavy duty tubing and T-top. Heavy duty tow bars in both the front and rear of the vessel make towing or being towed easy too, plus she can be outfitted with all sorts of cool gadgets and technology.
