There is a LEGAL way you can build a suppressor in your own garage, and it is WILDLY cheaper than buying one, several hundred dollars cheaper usually! However, it ABSOLUTELY MUST be engraved and you ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE YOUR APPROVED FORM 1 IN HAND before you assemble it. We have the capability to engrave your tube to exceed ATF specifications. We are a licensed FFL and can do this with a quick turn around. High temp cerakoting is also avaialble. Send it in before you get your stamp back so you can get your suppressor together as soon as you get your stamp. Yes, owning suppressor is legal, and yes you can build one with the proper procedure (it's not that bad, really).
Didn't know you could build one? Here are the steps to making one legally:
1. Design your Suppressor and determine it's specifications
2. Fill out your Form 1, mail it with your money to the ATF
3. DO NOT DO ANYTHING FURTHER WITHOUT A VALID NFA STAMP IN YOUR HAND
4. Receive stamp! Yay - Celebrate!
5. Purchase/machine your suppressor components and have engraving done
6. Finish drilling out baffles and end caps
7. Assemble and Shoot quietly :)
This is obviously a very simple list, but people, it is possible to build your own suppressor, and please, for the love of whatever is holy to you, do not drill out baffles or end caps until you have your stamp in your hand. It is just not worth losing your life over a few months of waiting, because it is 10 years in federal prison to do otherwise, and you can never touch a gun again, ever. With all the scary legal mumbo jumbo (I'm not a lawyer, this isn't legal advice!) out of the way, this is a fun way to get into the NFA game and will save you a lot of money, and give you the satisfaction of doing it yourself.
