Chief Observer Barry Andrews, Member of the European Parliament, presented the second preliminary statement of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Nigeria on the 18 March Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections. This second preliminary report of the EU EOM Nigeria 2023 supplements the first report issued on 27 February. In response to the invitation by the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria, the European Union deployed an EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) to observe the general elections scheduled for 25 February and 18 March 2023. In line with the EU election observation methodology, the mission issued a preliminary statement and held a press conference after each election day. The final report, which will include a set of recommendations for future electoral processes, will be presented after the finalisation of the entire electoral process.
