[ Ссылка ] As of the writing of this description article, the Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 is Focusrite's flagship model audio interface - it has 28 inputs and 28 outputs but most importantly it has two channels of Focusrite's Liquid Technology. So what the bloomin' hell is that I hear you ask ... ? Well, Liquid Technology is the ability for the Microphone Pre-Amp channel to emulate a series of Classic Mic Pre devices from the last 40 years, so just like guitar amps that have modeling capabilities the Liquid Technology built into the Saffire 56 has 10 emulations of Classic Mic Pre Amps based on some of the most famous Mic Pre's used over the last 40 years ... These include emulations based on devices such as the legendary Neve 1073, the Pultec MB-1 and the Telefunken V72 , a harmonics dial on each Liquid pre-amp lets you account for variance in vintage originals of the same model, or use levels of 2nd, 3rd and 5th Harmonic distortion creatively to shape your sound.
Aside from this the Liquid Saffire 56 has outstanding specifications which include 28 inputs/outputs, a 24 Bit 192Khz Firewire Interface, 6 additional award winning Focusrite Mic Pre-amp channels, 10 analogue outputs, 16 channels of ADAT I/O, Stereo SPDIF Input and Output, MIDI IN/OUT and 2 virtual 'loopback' inputs for routing digital audio between software applications - ideal for capturing audio playback within your computer. Mic, Line and Instrument inputs all utilise independent connectors, with the input type for each channel selectable via custom control software. Consequently, all the inputs can remain permanently connected, ready for whatever your recording session demands.
In addition, a word-clock Input/Output is provided on BNC connectors, allowing the unit to act as either a master clock for your studio, or as a slave to an existing clock. Every channel features an independent phantom power and a high pass filter, switchable from the front panel, with the two instrument channels also featuring -9dB pads for additional headroom. Front panel 5-LED metering for all inputs, including ADAT and SPDIF, provides accurate viewing of all audio levels. Two independent headphone buses are provided, each with their own level controls available on the front panel whilst a dedicated stereo monitor mix output features pads for improved sound quality when connected to active monitor speakers. There's even an 'anti-thump' circuit that protects your monitor speakers from spikes when booting up or shutting down the unit - brilliant ...!
As you'd expect from the flagship product this baby ships with a shed full of free software, firstly there's the Focusrite plug-In suite that contains Compressors, Noise Gates, Reverb and EQ and aside from this you have the Saffire Mix Control which provides an 18 x 16 DSP mixer with output routing and monitoring capabilities. As I looked around my own studio I realised that I could get rid of 3 hardware boxes and that the Liquid Saffire 56 would replace -and more importantly improve my own home studio set-up just by the addition of this brilliant product. I really can't express how impressive the Liquid Saffire 56 is, Focusrite have really put together something quite special here and it has just about every connectivity option and facility that you'd need in a home or project studio and all in pristine audio quality that sounds staggeringly good ...
