Doug Levy, one of the most accomplished players in program history, was a four-year starter for the Bloodhounds. The forward registered 1239 points, 1038 rebounds, 193 blocks, 165 assists, and 51 steals in 106 games. The big-man also drained 89 baskets from behind-the-arc. In his career, the Smithtown, NY native was named the CUNYAC Player of the Year, CUNYAC first team all-star, NABC All-Atlantic first team all-star, Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division III first team all-star, ECAC DIII Men's Basketball first team all-star, D3hoops.com Men's Basketball All-Atlantic Region second team all-star, and two-time John Jay College Male Athlete of the Year.
On December 6th, 2019, in a win at City College, Levy recorded his 1,000th collegiate point to become the 13th Bloodhound to achieve this milestone. Roughly two months later on February 12th in a victory over Medgar Evers at the Doghouse, he made history for the program after tallying his 1,000th career rebound to become the first player in program history to accomplish both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Levy finishes his John Jay career second all-time in rebounds.
Levy was also the program's first-ever participant to represent John Jay College in the 2020 Reese's® Division III College All-Star Game, but unfortunately the game was canceled due to COVID-19.
During the summer of 2019, Levy was selected to represent United States Division III Men's Basketball as part of a Brazil tour with student-athletes from around the country.
Not only did Levy excel on the court, he was a scholar-athlete and dean's list student. The economics major graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.471.
After graduation, Levy signed a professional basketball contract with the Hapoel Afula Basketball Club in Israel.
