The chemical contamination in Ganga water has fallen but it still remains highly unsafe for human use due to bacterial pollution and at places not fit even for farming. The findings come from the annual testing carried out by ABP News and Shriram Institute for Industrial Research on water samples collected from nine spots from Gangotri in Uttarakhand to Malda in West Bengal. The tests reveal that the Ganga water is a hotbed of diseases. Abysmally high quantity of Coliform bacteria (including E-Coli) has been found.
