Listen to what one of our experts has to say about COVID-19 scams and cyber threats. Protect yourself and each other.
Did you know that criminals are using the COVID-19 health crisis to try to steal your identity and your money? They’re preying on people’s fears and reliance on technology.
Specialized investigators are actively tracking fraud and blocking cyber attacks — but you can help:
- Ignore unsolicited calls, texts and emails, and never open suspicious links or attachments.
- Use strong passwords and update all of your digital privacy and security measures.
- Refer to Government of Canada resources to educate yourself and others about staying safe online and on the phone.
Nobody should ask you for money or your personal information in relation to COVID-19. If someone does, or if you've been a victim of fraud, call your local police and report to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
Remember: be vigilant against scams and practice cyber safety.
And stay healthy by washing your hands and maintaining physical distancing!
We're all in this together.
