The social media app TikTok is more than just viral dance challenges. In fact, over the past year it has transformed fashion. From styling videos to eboys turning up on the runway, the industry is hooked on TikTok. A new trend of videos in China has infiltrated the platform, setting a captivating new precedent for street style. Eager to find out more, Nick Knight sat down with MACHINE-A’s founder and buying director Stavros Karelis and fashion designer Steven Ma.
Spanning styles like punk, Lolita, traditional Chinese dress, y2k and the Han dynasty trend, the trio discuss the rise of influencer culture, where the catwalk is swapped for the street, and rediscover the joy of dressing up in cities including Shanghai and Beijing.
