What Is an 8130 Certificate?
- The 8130-3 form is an FAA-required document used to verify parts and components within the global aviation system.
- The 8130 form has two major purposes:
-- Ensuring new and used parts meet conformity requirements for airworthiness
-- Ensuring parts may return to service following maintenance
- An 8130-3 is used for new products, newly overhauled parts and international use. However, it should not be used for administrative purposes, aircraft release or installation approval.
- Form 8130 comes in two versions: single release and dual release.
-- Single release is for domestic use only.
-- Dual release is used to meet both EU and U.S. regulations.
- To get an 8130 certificate, request it from the production approval holder (PAH) or the repair service where you receive your parts.
