I myself am not a gypsy. The story behind this film was that I had just graduated from film school and was looking for work. So I wanted to make a film about something that was close to heart to put on my showreel. My father is Richard Heygate and he was writing a book at the time called "Bart and Bounder - Endangered species" It was focused on the cultures of the UK that were dying out. I had spent alot of time with the gypsy community during the writing of the book and they were nice enough to take me in as one of their own for a week. I met during my week all different colours and creeds of gypsies and each was nicer than the next. They have very strong family morales and are very proud people that have been persecuted for a long time.
