Big changes have finally come to New World Patch 1.2 with the New World gypsum and expertise. The watermark system has been rebranded to Expertise, and the developers introduced a new way for a guaranteed increase to your expertise gear score. In this video, Spookypops covers the basics of each gypsum including the best location to obtain them, how to create a gypsum orb and cast, and tips and tricks to the new system.

There are 8 types of New World gypsum, and each is obtained through different end game content. This new system was created for that exact purpose - to encourage players to get engaged with the end game content outside of chest runs and dungeons. When you obtain the appropriate amount of gypsum, you can head to one of five gypsum kilns to create the gypsum orb and cast. These kilns are located in shattered mountain, Reekwater, Edengrove, Ebonscale Reach, and Great Cleave.

When you do create an orb or cast, there is a cooldown on each unique "craftable" item. At the time of recording this video, each cooldown for every item at the kiln has a 22 hour cooldown. New World gypsum players are already suggesting Amazon switch to a daily or weekly reset for ALL cooldown timers. Elite chests, gypsum, anything in-game that is associated with a cooldown timer needs to be more intuitive than the current situation.

Here is an example of how Spookypops provides basic information about New World gypsum in the video. The Obsidian gypsum can be obtained by farming level 60+ open world named bosses. They are typically found in elite landmarks and require a group to kill. My preferred location to do this farm is the 3 siren boss farm in Reekwater.
