Hello in this video I show you the basic steps of installing laminate flooring and a cockpit wall into a 2019 ram promaster. If you go back to my last video posted in the van build, I do go through the process of cutting the subfloor.
When I was putting the wood filler down, it was just for some screw holes I made that didn’t grab or go in straight. So I removed the screw and filled in the hole with filler. If I went through the van floor, I put silicone then wood filler.
I did add some subfloor adhesive between the subfloor boards to fill in the empty space.
The flooring:
It consists of (in this order):
1. Underlayment insulation
2. Subfloor (plywood)
3. Underlayment (came on the laminate flooring)
4. Laminate flooring
I didn’t show me putting the insulation down. What I did was roll it onto each subfloor board, cut it to shape then used spray adhesive to stick it to the board. Then laid the board down with the insulation on the bottom.
When I screwed in the subfloor, I did make sure to hit the upper ridges of the vans floor to make sure the boards were screwed down completely. It was difficult to figure out where the upper part of the ridges were but I was able to mark them with a pencil.
Also you can see I did screw up at first. I did not need to glue the laminate floor down and I needed to do one column at a time. Once I figured it out, it was pretty easy.
I did use self tapping screws to screw in the subfloor.
