Do we think '80s menswear was totally tubular, or does it make us want to ralph?
While the looks were often exaggerated, with overly broad and baggy fits, the '80s did see a revival of Golden-Age-of-Menswear styles, including unique takes on the Prep look and the re-popularization of the double-breasted suit.
Some aesthetics, like those typical of the corporate raiders seen in the film "Wall Street," went even further back in menswear history, reviving Winchester shirts, broad stripes, and suspenders.
We also love that the '80s made it clear that men can also wear vibrant and fun colors--but of course, it wasn't all radical!
Few things are less classic than the excessively bright colors and wild patterns typical of '80s casual attire.
On a similar note, the '80s also saw an increasing reliance on high-tech fabrics like polyester; unless it's for safety, your clothes probably shouldn't be reflectively neon!
