SCRIPTURE TEXT: Luke 24:45-53; Acts 1-2; Joel 2
A fair amount of the Apostle Paul’s prolific & influential epistolary ministry (half the books of the New Testament are attributed to him) was composed while in prison. Paul faced repeated incarceration as he travelled the ancient world evangelizing people to the Christian faith that was so persecuted in that era of the Roman Empire. Acts chapters 23-26 describe a period when Paul spent over two years imprisoned in the Praetorium (the Governor’s complex) in Caesarea awaiting trial, despite having committed no crime. Rather than despair, Paul saw an opportunity to demonstrate patient faith & to give vibrant witness of God’s Good News to his Roman captors.
